Heat, sweat, and skateboard tape...

We often say gun control means hitting what you aim at. That's kind of hard to do when the grip on your preferred piece is sliding around in your hand when you shoot.

Over at View from the Porch, Tam says, "I need to do something to texture the grip of my M&P; my palms were so sweaty that that thing squirmed in my hands like an eel every time a shot broke. I don't know how much texturing you can do with a CTC Lasergrip, though... Maybe deck tape?"

Faced with that problem some time ago with one of my Glock Model 20s, I came to the same conclusion. I purchased a sheet of skateboard tape, and here's the result.

I put the large sections on the side panels, and went out to see how it felt. A few magazines later, I went back to the house and added the pieces (1) under the trigger guard, (2) around the back of the grip, and (3) under the beavertail. After a few more magazines, I was convinced that the three small pieces did more to control the pistol than the large pieces on the side.

The laws of gun safety are much easier observed when we work to minimize the opportunities for Murphy to do that voodoo he does so well.

Senate Judiciary Committee will hear HB 500 on March 22nd

HB 500 has been assigned to the Senate Judiciary Committee.
We need to start sending messages to the committee members by phone and email "move HB 500 out of committee and onto the Senate Floor with a favorable report".
Let's not take anything for granted. Get those phone calls and emails started!

The next scheduled meeting of this committee is Thursday, March 22. This is the last scheduled meeting of the committee in this session. It's now or never. That would give us 4 days to get it onto the floor and passed. Let's hit these committee members with all we've got, then on Friday we can start on the entire Senate membership.

Click on any of the highlighted bill numbers for the text of the bills.

Any bill that moves to corral the scofflaw local officials and strengthen preemption is a good bill.
Hope to see you there.
